Back in the 80's the idea of creating art on a personal computer was a dream that I and many others believed in. The earliest machines were very limited in their ability to generate bit mapped images. That did not stop us from experimenting with the many early computers that were competing during that time. Unfortunately the need for graphics was considered superfluous by some manufacturers. It took a decade to arrive at the point where rudimentary tools were available for creating pictorial digital content. Leaders in this area were Atari, Commodore, Apple, Amiga to name a few.
